Eskedar G.

I am Eskedar, born and raised in Ethiopia, where the rich culture and traditions of my homeland have been the foundation of my creativity. Growing up, I was immersed in Ethiopia’s vibrant colors, stories, and heritage, which have profoundly shaped my artistic vision and inspired me to blend traditional elements with contemporary ideas.

As a self-taught artist, my journey reflects both my cultural roots and a passion for exploring diverse artistic mediums. My academic path began with a degree in Information Systems from Gondar University, Ethiopia, providing me with a unique perspective on integrating technology with creativity. I later pursued Art History at Leiden University in the Netherlands, deepening my understanding of both historical and modern artistic movements.

I have had the privilege of collaborating with notable venues, including What is Happening Gallery in Amsterdam and Kerk Luther in The Hague. Currently, I am holding a three-week-long exhibition at Sijthoff, showcasing my latest works. I am also the newest prospective member of ARS Aemula Naturae, an exciting opportunity to engage with a broader artistic community.

As I continue to evolve as an artist, I remain deeply connected to my Ethiopian roots while exploring new avenues of artistic expression.
